About Shippensburg University

At Shippensburg University, everyone is always seen as a whole person. We’re a student-centered university that takes a hands-on approach to supporting all members of the campus family.

We value our community feel. It’s evident from our small class sizes, the passion from our strong alumni network, the personalized attention our students receive and the positive impact we have in our town, state and region. Together, we are a close-knit group of lifelong learners.

We have unique academic offerings that prepare our students for the competitive and ever-changing global job market. Ship is the only state university in Pennsylvania to offer Bachelor of Science degrees in civil engineering, computer engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering and software engineering. We're also the only state university to offer a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in entrepreneurship from our AACSB-accredited John L. Grove College of Business.

We are proud to have one of only eight Bachelor of Science in criminal justice programs in the United States certified by the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences, and one of only three programs in Pennsylvania accredited by the Accrediting Council on Education in Journalism and Mass Communication. These accreditations are on top of others such as those for programs in computer science, counseling, social work and teacher education.

Beyond the classroom, our students have plenty of access to faculty and staff, as well as unique opportunities and resources. Many of them are right here on campus such as the Center for Land Use and Sustainability, the Brad E. Hollinger Stock Trading Room, the Fashion Archives and Museum of Shippensburg University and the Grace B. Luhrs University Elementary School, the only public elementary lab school in the state. Given our location at the center of the East Coast's major metropolitan areas, our students also have plenty of opportunities to explore all the region has to offer.

Transfer Agreements

This agreement is intended primarily for students who have completed an associate degree and desire to continue towards completion of a baccalaureate degree. Bucks and Shippensburg University will provide current information which will allow students to plan a complete program of study.

Advantages

  • Students completing an associate degree at Bucks can be admitted to Shippensburg University with a 2.0 GPA. Without a degree, a 2.2 GPA will be required.
  • All courses deemed by Bucks as general education core courses will be transferable to SU.
  • Students receiving a D in a course will have the opportunity to transfer that course to Shippensburg University, provided that the equivalent Shippenburg University course does not have a grade requirement.
  • For the purpose of degree requirements, Bucks students will be considered as matriculating at Shippensburg University at the time of their original matriculation at Bucks.
  • Bucks students who transfer to Shippensburg University will be given the same consideration for scheduling classes, campus housing, and financial aid as Shippensburg University students of equal class standing.

What this means

Students who plan to earn an associate degree from Bucks and then transfer to Shippensburg University in a parallel program can be assured a smooth transfer, if they begin their planning early and follow the program requirements of their transfer major.
